Mendocino Purple Kush is a cannabis strain that will transform your garden into a spectacle of colors and aromas. This strain was developed by crossing two prestigious American genetics: the famous Mendocino Purple, or simply Purps, from Humboldt County in California, and the incredibly resinous Purple Kush. This powerful mix has resulted in a plant that is not only visually impressive but also offers a rewarding growing experience for growers of all levels.

Mendocino Purple Kush stands out for its robust and stretched morphology, allowing it to reach impressive heights of up to 10 feet outdoors. Its leaves are enormous, and its buds, large, dense, and extremely resinous, range in color from vibrant green to intense purple, delighting the senses. The green phenotypes tend to be the fastest and most productive, while the purple phenotypes offer an unmatched visual spectacle.

Flavor and Effects

The aroma and flavor of Mendocino Purple Kush are truly special. This strain combines earthy notes with sweet hints, reminiscent of fresh berries and grapes. The green phenotypes tend to have a more earthy flavor, while the purple phenotypes present a sweeter, fruitier taste. This blend of flavors makes every hit a unique sensory experience.

As for the effects, Mendocino Purple Kush does not disappoint. With a THC content ranging from 15% to 20% and very low CBD, this strain offers a potent combination of effects. Upon consumption, you’ll first feel a wave of energy, creativity, and happiness hitting you hard. Then, a much more relaxing second wave will leave you feeling deeply content, providing a profound sense of relaxation and well-being. It’s perfect for those seeking both an energy boost and a relaxing finish.

Terpenes in Mendocino Purple Kush

The terpenes present in Mendocino Purple Kush are responsible for its distinctive aroma and flavor, as well as some of its therapeutic effects. The most notable terpenes include Myrcene, which gives an earthy and clove-like aroma, known for its relaxing properties; Humulene, which adds woody and spicy notes and is known for its anti-inflammatory effects; and Beta-Caryophyllene, which offers a spicy, peppery aroma and has analgesic and anxiolytic properties.

These terpenes not only enhance the consumption experience with their delicious aromas and flavors but also contribute to the therapeutic effects of Mendocino Purple Kush, providing benefits such as stress relief, pain reduction, and an overall sense of well-being.

Yield and Flowering Time

Mendocino Purple Kush is a strain that offers generous yields both indoors and outdoors. In indoor grows, with 300-350 W LED lighting, you can achieve harvests of up to 19 ounces per square yard. This strain is perfect for those looking to maximize their production in controlled spaces.

Mendocino Purple Kush can yield up to 28 ounces per plant outdoors, especially if allowed to reach its maximum size. This robust plant can grow between 8 and 10 feet tall, making it an ideal choice for those with enough space and looking for abundant production.

Mendocino Purple Kush has a relatively short flowering time. Indoors, the flowering period lasts between 8 and 9 weeks, meaning you can harvest your buds in no time. Outdoors, the harvest takes place in early October, with some phenotypes ready even a few days earlier. This quick flowering makes Mendocino Purple Kush an attractive option for growers seeking an efficient and productive strain.

How to Grow Mendocino Purple Kush

Mendocino Purple Kush is a relatively easy plant to grow, making it suitable for both novice and experienced growers. While it is resilient, it does not tolerate high doses of fertilizers well, so we recommend using a line of solid organic fertilizers to mix with the substrate.

As for climate, this strain thrives best in warm, sunny climates. If growing outdoors, it is ideal to start the cultivation in early spring so that the plant has enough time to grow and develop before flowering. Indoors, temperature and humidity should be kept at optimal levels to avoid issues with mold and pests.

Speaking of pests and diseases, Mendocino Purple Kush is quite resistant, but like any plant, it can be susceptible to insect attacks such as mites and aphids, as well as fungal diseases. Keeping a clean and controlled environment and performing regular inspections can help prevent these issues.

  1. Les Jardins Célestes

Hello, after having tried this variety outdoors, in super soil, in a mountain climate, my opinion is that it’s a plant that produces a lot of medium-sized buds, with a high density for outdoors. It’s a variety that tolerates being pruned and trellised very well. During the last 2 weeks of flowering, the trichomes double in size and invade the flowers to an unprecedented degree, visible to the naked eye and falling off easily on contact. The fragrance is very earthy, with distinct pine notes. After standard curing and a 1-month maturing period, the dominant fragrance is that of pine, which changes to a flowery fragrance after the 3rd month, and it is this fragrance that intensifies as maturing continues. As for taste, when consumed as a vaporizer, you need to choose gentle heat to get the most out of its pine and floral aromas. Whereas when consumed as a smoke, the taste becomes very strongly that of resin. In my opinion, this is the perfect variety for those who want to extract large quantities with a strong resin taste!
