Introducing Granddaddy Purple, a bulk marijuana strain you will love Also known as Grand Daddy Purple, Grandaddy Purple, GDP or Granddaddy Purple Kush, it is an Indica-dominant strain that became popular in 2003 thanks to breeder Ken Este. In his first 3 years, he managed to sweep the competitions, winning 4 first prizes in The Inglewood Medical Cannabis Cup in 2004, and in the Green Cup in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

His ancestors were raised in the hills of northern California. And many of its phenotypes became just as famous, among them Grape Ape, Purple Erkel and Grandaddy Grape Ape.

Para su desarrollo, se trabajó con la famosa Mendocino Purple Kush y una espectacular Big Bud (Skunk x Afghani). De la primera hereda su delicioso sabor a bayas, mientras que la segunda aporta mayor estabilidad, robustez y producción.

How to grow Granddaddy Purple

The Skunk heritage of this strain influences its resilience and ease of cultivation. It is a compact growing plant that does not pose any challenge to the grower. Even novices will get the best out of it without excessive care.

Outdoors it remains fairly discreet, although when germinated in early summer it will grow to over 2.5 metres in height. Its structure is pyramidal, like a Christmas tree.

Although this strain prefers the very sunny, warm summers of its native California, it will adapt to almost any climate. It is harvested in early October, with some faster phenotypes that can be cut in late September.

Indoors the typical uncomplicated genetics. Its stretch is medium and it is a spectacle when selecting a columnar-growing mother plus SOG cultivation.

From the time the photoperiod is changed from growth to flowering, it will be harvested in about 8-9 weeks. We advise you to use a good anti-odour system, because it is very intense, especially in its last days.

Features of Granddaddy Purple

The buds are huge, very compact and mega sticky. Moreover, as you can guess from its name, it tends to show beautiful purple colours that become very intense in areas with medium temperatures.

The aroma and flavour is one of its greatest charms. To growers it reminds a lot of grapes and red berries, with a floral touch like violets.

The effects of Granddaddy Purple are potent and long lasting, quite well balanced throughout. Para ser una índica, el subidón no es excesivamente relajante y sorprende con un toque energético.

Yields are also spectacular. Outdoors you can expect up to 900 grams per plant in the larger plants. Indoors and with a 300-350W LED bulb, it will not be difficult to reach 550 grams per m².
