Acapulco Gold Feminized Seeds

Acapulco Gold doesn't need to dress up as something new: its strength is that golden, wild, old-school character that made it famous in the '60s and '70s. It's a sativa-dominant photoperiod strain with a Mexican landrace identity rooted in Acapulco and the state of Guerrero.

Its flowers tend to show green, brown and golden tones, orange pistils and a generous coat of resin that gives the buds a coppery sheen. On the nose it goes straight for warmth: toasted caramel, freshly brewed coffee, honey, chestnuts and spices, with damp earth, sweet pine and a light citrus backdrop.

Acapulco Gold's exact lineage is unknown, and that's part of its charm. This isn't a line that has been tamed until it lost its personality; it keeps that classic sativa feel, vigorous and with a presence all its own.

How Acapulco Gold Behaves in the Grow

Our breeders rate it as medium to advanced difficulty, especially indoors. It builds a tall frame with long branches, wide node spacing and a big stretch once flowering starts, so it pays to control height early with topping, LST or ScrOG.

Outdoors it performs best in warm, sunny, mild climates with long falls, like California or the South. Flowering usually takes 9 to 11 weeks, and outside it can be harvested from mid/late October to early November if the frost holds off. Keep an eye on humidity toward the end: the buds have good natural airflow, but all that resin calls for clean air and stable conditions.

One grower who ran it outdoors told us a single plant reached about 6 feet tall and almost as wide, with good-sized colas, plenty of stickiness and a sweet, spicy profile with a hint of tea leaves. That fits what we expect from a big sativa given enough sun, root space and time.

Effects of Acapulco Gold

Acapulco Gold stands out for a clear, euphoric and motivating head high, ideal for daytime, conversation, music, socializing and creative projects. The body follows with gentle relaxation, usually without tipping into a heavy or narcotic feeling.

In the feedback we've received, several people describe it as functional, cheerful and clear-headed: one talked about a quiet kind of happiness, another about days when it felt easier to straighten up, clean and get through a to-do list. Others find it more laid-back, so take it slow if you're sensitive to THC.

The effect feels like opening a window in a stuffy room: light pours in, your mood lifts and your mind settles into place. What lingers is that warmth of coffee, honey and spice, like a classic sativa served slowly.

Frequently asked questions

What customers ask us most about Acapulco Gold.

Questions about shipping, payment or guarantee?
See our help page

Is Acapulco Gold indica or sativa?

Acapulco Gold is a sativa-dominant strain, usually described as 80% sativa and 20% indica. Some traditional cuts are even treated as pure or near-pure sativa.

Is Acapulco Gold suitable for beginners?

It isn't the easiest choice to start with. Indoors it can stretch a lot and needs height control, space and good humidity management, so it's a better fit for intermediate or advanced growers.

When is Acapulco Gold harvested outdoors?

Outdoors, Acapulco Gold is usually harvested between mid/late October and early November, as long as the weather stays mild and frost-free. In short-season areas like the Pacific Northwest or the northern states, a greenhouse helps.
