The contrast between its purple hues, orange pistils and glistening layer of trichomes makes Cherry Runtz hard to ignore. Its buds are usually compact, dense and small to medium in size, with a top-shelf look when flowering is kept well under control.
This cross between Runtz and Cherry Pie blends the dessert character, intense fruit and resin production of Runtz with the sweet-and-sour cherry, compact structure and gradual relaxation associated with Cherry Pie. Its lineage also connects to Zkittlez, Gelato, Granddaddy Purple and F1 Durb, a genetic base that helps explain its aromatic complexity.
The plant grows into a bushy shape with short internodes, thick stems and broad leaves. Indoors, it can be kept at around 30-40 inches with small pots and proper management. Outdoors, grown in the ground with little training, it can reach close to 5 feet.
Our breeders consider it a strain of moderate difficulty. It's not especially complicated, but its dense canopy needs some attention. It responds well to early topping, LST, light pruning, SOG and gentle training that opens up the branches and improves light penetration.
Flowering usually wraps up in 8-10 weeks, with some grows running close to 70 days. Under powerful lights, with balanced feeding and proper care, it can produce up to 2 oz per square foot. It prefers warm climates or controlled environments, good drainage and stable temperatures. Lower the humidity and step up ventilation toward the end of flowering to protect its dense buds and preserve the resin.
With THC levels between 17% and 25%, according to our breeders' lab tests, the effects usually come on quickly. It starts with a sparkling feeling in the head, forehead or behind the eyes, along with a good mood, creativity, easy conversation and the urge to laugh.
After that, a clearer and more comfortable physical relaxation takes over. In larger amounts it can get heavy, which makes it especially well suited to afternoons, early evenings, music sessions, movies or quiet downtime.
Smokers often report a perceived duration of two to three hours, plenty of laughs and a pronounced sensation around the eyes. The smoke is notably smooth, with cherry and berry flavor and a combination of early euphoria and later relaxation. These are individual impressions and may vary depending on the person and the amount.
On the palate it recalls cherry candy melting into ripe berries and vanilla cream. Floral notes, tart apple and a soft earthy base follow, like a fruit dessert with a slightly spicy finish.
