Portela feminized seeds

Portela doesn't start off gently: it kicks off with explosive roots, a sturdy stem and branching that needs space. It's a sativa hybrid with a Jamaican soul, born from a cross between a Lambsbread-type plant with a Blue Mountains feel and an Icer male.

What makes it special is the way it pairs sativa drive with flowers that are more compact than usual. By late flower it builds swollen calyxes, dense buds, an oily texture and a coat of resin that gives it that much-wanted frosty look.

The aroma ranges across haze, incense, earth, citrus and a sharp sour background. On the palate it leaves lemon, fruity notes, bitter hash and a kush or incense-like aftertaste depending on the phenotype, as if the Jamaican side had been sharpened with a layer of dark resin.

How Portela behaves in the grow

The Bulk Genetics breeders see it as moderately demanding: easy indoors with good light, proper watering and organic feeding. In veg it likes humidity, while in flower it can handle warmer or drier conditions.

It stretches hard after the flip: some plants have gone from about 7 inches to 3.5 feet, with medium-long internodes and good branching for SCROG. Its fast veg also stands out, along with how easily it roots from clones and its huge, resinous buds that are easy to trim.

Indoors it reaches around 5 feet and usually finishes in about 9 weeks, though big plants can take closer to 10. Outdoors, with direct sun and room to grow, it can hit 10 feet and be harvested in the first half of October. It smells strong in flower, so use a carbon filter or ozone generator if you grow indoors.

Portela effects

Portela is described as potent and intense, although no THC percentage has been stated. The effect builds with mental energy, creativity, cheerfulness and clarity, with some body presence but no excessive heaviness.

Expect an active, clear-headed punch, with hardly any body heaviness or noticeable munchies. Many growers come back to it for the flavor of its buds and its strong effect.

It's a strain for anyone after a sativa with character, the kind that fills the room with incense, damp earth and sour lemon while trichomes coat the calyxes like thick frost.
