Chemdog
Chemdog is a legendary variety that combines powerful physical relaxation with intense cerebral euphoria. With its unmistakable diesel and pine aroma and generous yields indoors and outdoors, it's perfect for discerning growers. Add it to your basket and discover this cannabis gem.
Chemdog is a legendary variety whose genetic origins are shrouded in mystery. Emerging in the 90s, it has earned its fame in the cannabis world thanks to its potency and balanced effect. Legend has it that Chemdog, or Chemdawg, came from a seed found at a Grateful Dead concert and has since been grown and improved by various breeders. This indica-dominant hybrid (55 % indica / 45 % sativa) is renowned for its unmistakable aroma and intense effect.
Chemdog buds are medium-sized, with an elongated, conical shape. The spring-green leaves are covered in sticky white trichomes that give them a silvery, sparkling look. The bright orange pistils stand out against the green, turning every bud into a true work of art. On top of that, the dense, sticky resin makes the buds hard to break up by hand, so we recommend using a grinder. It's no wonder Chemdog has been used to create other famous varieties such as Sour Diesel and OG Kush.
Chemdog flavour and effects
Chemdog stands out for its strong, penetrating aroma, combining notes of diesel, pine and a touch of earthiness. The scent fills the room and lingers in the air, a unique sensory experience from the very first moment. The flavour of Chemdog is just as distinctive: a blend of diesel with an ammonia-like aftertaste that leaves its mark on the palate.
The effects of Chemdog are as powerful as its aroma. With THC between 15 % and 20 % and low CBD (<1 %), it delivers an immediate cerebral high that sparks creativity and sharpens the senses. This first wave is joined by deep body relaxation that helps you switch off without leaving you completely couch-locked. Perfect for moments when you want a boost of energy and creativity but also want to unwind.
Chemdog terpenes
Chemdog is packed with terpenes that define its aroma and flavour and reinforce its effect. The dominant terpene is caryophyllene, with a spicy, peppery aroma, which also contributes to the deep relaxation many users describe.
Another key terpene is myrcene, which adds herbal, earthy notes to the Chemdog profile and is associated with a relaxing, body-focused effect. Finally, limonene brings a fresh citrus touch, typical of mood-lifting varieties.
Together, these terpenes create a complex, pleasant flavour and aroma and reinforce the relaxing effect of Chemdog, an ideal choice if you're after a calm, laid-back high and a full sensory journey.
Chemdog yield and flowering time
Chemdog rewards growers with generous harvests. Indoors you can expect 500 to 600 grams per square metre, as long as you give your plants optimal conditions. It needs around 55 to 60 days of flowering to reach its full potential.
Outdoors, Chemdog becomes a real giant, reaching 2.5 to 3 metres in height. In these conditions, each plant can produce between 1300 and 1500 grams, making it a highly productive option. Harvest is usually ready in the second half of September, before the weather turns.
Bear in mind that, due to its structure and the weight of the buds, Chemdog branches may need support during flowering to stop them from snapping. With the right care, it will reward you with an abundant crop of resinous, aromatic buds.
How to grow Chemdog
Chemdog can be a demanding plant, but the results are worth every bit of effort. It's ideal if you already have some experience, as it needs watching to prevent mould and powdery mildew, especially indoors, where it grows quite tall. If discretion matters, remember its powerful aroma can give you away: use carbon filters and good ventilation.
To get the best out of Chemdog, aim for a warm, dry climate, with daytime temperatures between 20 °C and 26 °C and no lower than 18 °C at night. Keep humidity under control and low during flowering to prevent mould.
When it comes to pests and diseases, Chemdog can be vulnerable if you don't take precautions. Check your plants regularly and apply preventive treatments against common pests such as spider mites and aphids. Good ventilation and a clean environment will help keep these problems at bay.

When does Chemdog start flowering outdoors?
Flowering usually starts between late July and early August.
How do you grow feminised Chemdog?
It adapts to any growing technique, but it's somewhat demanding: keep humidity in check to prevent mould, support the branches during flowering and use carbon filters if you need discretion. It's ideal if you already have some experience.
What are the effects of Chemdog?
Its effect is very powerful. It starts with a cerebral high that sparks creativity, followed by a sense of well-being and calm that keeps you relaxed for hours.
Is Chemdog sativa or indica?
Chemdog is a slightly indica-dominant hybrid (55 % indica / 45 % sativa). It combines the best of both worlds: the stimulating cerebral high of sativas with the deep body relaxation of indicas.
